Greg has worked extensively in the resources sector in both financial and technical capacities. He was formerly CEO of Southern African resource company Metallon Gold and a director of Ridge Mining plc. Prior to this, he was a rated analyst and head of mining research at Deutsche Securities, focusing primarily on the gold and platinum sectors. He also spent two years at UAL Merchant Bank and a number of years with AngloGold Limited. He is a director of Diamond Core.
Roy joined Anglo American Corporation of South Africa Limited as a management trainee. He worked primarily in Zimbabwe and became Chairman and Chief Executive of the Corporation in Zimbabwe for over 10 years, managing its mining interests including those in chrome, coal, copper, gold, and nickel. Roy was also a director of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines during the period immediately prior to privatisation. He was President of the Chamber of Mines in Zimbabwe in the period immediately after independence in the early 1980's. In addition, Roy was a non-executive Director of African Platinum Plc, which was acquired by Impala Platinum Holdings Limited, a world leading platinum group metals producer in June 2007.
Roy has more than 20 years' senior management and executive experience in Southern Africa, 13 years of which were in the mining industry. He was CEO of Cluff Resources Zimbabwe Limited, Delta Gold Zimbabwe (Pty) Limited and Zimbabwe Platinum Mines Limited. He is also a past president of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe. Roy was closely involved in building Zimplats' fortunes and creating a company with a PGM resource base in excess of 300 million ounces. This included taking the Ngezi opencast platinum mine into production and the re-commissioning of the Selous Metallurgical Complex at the end of 2001. He was also closely involved in Impala Platinum's acquisition of Zimplats.
David is Managing Partner of the European office of Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP, a leading Canadian law firm. His primary focus is on international corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, with particular emphasis on natural resources, having worked on numerous major transactions, including Lonmin Plc's $263 million takeover of Southern Platinum Corp and C$475 million take-over of AfriOre Limited., CAG's $40 million acquisition of the Bibiani Gold Mine in Ghana from Anglo Gold Ashanti, and Billiton plc's C$1.7 billion acquisition of Rio Algom Ltd. In addition, David has been named one of the world's leading mining lawyers in The International Who's Who of Mining Lawyers 2008.
Thomas has extensive experience of the financial and fund management sectors. He is currently the CEO of ECP, which spun out of Emerging Markets Partnership ("EMP") in 2005. ECP actively manages six funds totalling over $1.2 billion and has been rated as the largest private equity fund manager focused on Pan African businesses. Prior to becoming a founding partner at ECP, Mr. Gibian was a managing director at EMP Global, which managed the AIG African Infrastructure Fund, a $406 million pan-African private equity fund. He has also held directorships for various leading private and listed companies.
Navaid, a Managing Director of ECP, has a wealth of experience managing private equity funds and overseeing investment banking activities and has sourced over $260 million in equity/quasi-equity transactions in the resource, financial services, energy and manufacturing sectors and serves on the board of various companies.
Mark initially trained in the field of civil engineering, prior to joining Western Mining Corporation in 1986 where he held senior positions at the Windarra Nickel Project, Leinster Nickel Operations, and the Eastern Division Head Office in Adelaide. He was New Business Manager for Metallon Gold before joining CAG as New Business Manager early in 2006. He was also CEO of Digital Mining Services and Rift Mining.
Phil has more than 25 years' experience in the exploration industry, much of it gained in Sub-Saharan Africa. Over and above core exploration management and ore body evaluation skills, Phil has an ongoing passion for unraveling the geotectonic setting of mineral provinces endowed in gold mineralisation. This specialisation in gold mineralisation, coupled with Phil's understanding of African metallogeny, is an underlying strength of CAG's exploration strategy. Phil is a registered SACNAS professional, and is the company's Competent Person with respect to mineral reserves and mineral resource estimation.
Mark gained extensive work experience while at Anglovaal's ferralloys chrome smelter, Hartebeestfontein Gold Mine, Lorraine Gold Mine and ETC Mines, and spent six years as Section Engineer at Agnes Mine. After leaving Anglovaal, he held the position of Resident Engineer at Makonjwaan Mine and later at Barbrook Mine. Before joining CAG, Mark held the position of Group Manager: Engineering and Metallurgy for Metallon Gold.
Steve joined Randfontein Estates in 1983 after completing his schooling in Zimbabwe. After joining Falcon Mines Zimbabwe in 1986 as a junior mining engineer, Steve left in 1997 to join Lonrho Mining as the mine manager for How Mine. He was transferred to Agnes mine as the general manager in April 2005 before leaving to join CAG in May 2006. Steve currently holds a mine manager’s ticket and is completing his ACCA for non-finance managers.
